Peak season:
Typically, the peak of summer is also the peak season in Nice. July and August see the clubs, beaches and hotels all crowded and bustling with tourists so make sure to secure your flight tickets early as the prices will rise over the summer.
February is home to the Nice Carnival which is the main winter event on the Riviera. It is very popular and will make cheap flights to Nice extremely hard to find without booking well in advance. It is worth it though as the Carnaval is one of the largest carnivals in the world, with nights and day of parades and entertainment. Early spring is a quieter time to visit Nice, and you’ll be able to secure cheap flight tickets too as the tourists haven’t yet started to flock over.
Off Season:
Autumn is still pleasant with warm weather and most of the crowds have left. November is another quiet month to visit although a lot of the hotels and restaurant are closed. You can find cheap flights to Nice around November though and the weather is still warm. Winter can be quite chilly, but it is also a very pleasant time to book your flights to Nice thanks to the quiet streets and cheap accommodation.

Normally December, January and February offer the cheapest flights to Nice, with the exception of Christmas and the New Year. If you intend to visit Nice during the peak of Summer or during an event or festival make sure to book your flight tickets well in advance to avoid paying steep prices.

The journey was good on the whole. We had bikes with us so the dedicated oversize luggage lane at PMI was welcome. The flight was great, staff friendly as always. The only thing that lets down the return flight is the immigration at BHX. The separate area used by Jet2 is far too slow, I think we queued there for over an hour compared to generally going straight through or a 5 minute wait with other operators in the main facility at BHX. I know you will say that it's the responsibility of the airport, Home Office etc, but you really need to apply pressure to get this sorted out.
